    Easy to mold copies?

    I don't want to be the curmudgeon this time -- but wouldn't it be relatively easy to make a mold of an old plate and pop out new ones?

    Yes ...

    and that is why size is critical to authentication of imperial pieces, since the clay shrinks quite a bit when fired.
